Temple Reformed Baptist Church

“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Acts 2:42

HISTORY

In August of 2021, two couples met for prayer with a view to starting a Reformed Baptist church in Alamance County. We persevered with a simple devotional, personal prayer requests and a strong desire to see the prospering of “God’s work done God’s way.” We began to witness growth and commitment in our participants. By the end of the year we grew too large for a living room meeting and moved to the clubhouse. By January, 2022, we added a Sunday afternoon service for the purpose of studying the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. By June of 2022 our group had almost grown too large for the clubhouse, and we were all called upon to look for a rental space that could accommodate our group. One of our ladies contacted Temple Baptist Church of Haw River. Unbeknownst to us, the pastor of the church, Pastor James Black, had just been talking to his wife about what he was going to do with an empty building and only a half a dozen people in attendance.

In July the Steering Committee met with Pastor Black. We came with the expectation of finding an affordable rental. Instead, we found the doors of the church building opening wider and wider. The challenge from Pastor Black was that if we were serious and could demonstrate that we were, the building, fellowship hall and all of the property would belong to us by the end of 2022.

On February 12, 2023, in answer to our prayers, Temple Reformed Baptist Church of Haw River, NC., was constituted.

We see this unexpected answer to prayer as just the beginnings of what we hope and pray will be a blessing to God’s people and a rescue of the lost in our neighborhood.
